While working in the Health Food Industry and volunteering for 18 years as a fundraiser and event planner, Liliana witnessed the waste that usually goes hand in hand with event productions. She combined her passion, experience, and respect for the environment into a new business concept in 2008…Green Chair Recycling.

Liliana holds a Bachelor of Education (B. Ed.) and has completed the UBC Award of Achievement in Sustainability Management. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations. She is the recipient of the Woman of Worth (WOW) Leadership Awards, Hometown Hero Award, Small Business BC Top 5 Best Green Business, and the Canada Business Leader Volunteer Award.

Liliana is from Santiago, Chile, and is a dynamic event planner, entrepreneur, educator, public speaker and mother of four boys. Her energy for recycling and sustainability is contagious.

Why Green Chair?

As an event planner for many years Liliana volunteered with many nonprofit organizations to help them reach their goals. In her own words, “I was always sitting in a different chair; the volunteer chair, the decorating chair, the food chair….and I kept thinking: these events are so wasteful! I wish I could be the ‘Green Chair’, the one that brings a positive environmental impact into events productions.” That is how the vision started and here we are, The Green Chair, with over 10 years of making a difference in our community.
